The story of Factory True is a long and arduious one, but, I will try and make it short as possible.

me on the Uss Jarrett      HI, I'm Andy, founder and owner of Factory True, and I have been tinkering on minibikes and motorcycles since the age of about 13. Enough about me, let's get on with the story.

Bedford is a subarb of Chicago       It all got started back in May of 1992 , when Joe Laporte, owner and founder of Cycle Tech in Bedford Illinois, gave me a chance to work at his shop all because I had technical military expieriance. Thanks Joe!!!!

Viva Las Vegas Baby!       After about a year of working for Joe, I moved to Las Vegas where I worked at numerous shops, from lot boy to small time mechanic, none really gave me a chance. Except for one.

Danny Fields of Motorcycle Tire Center Motorcycle Tire Center logo hired me as a retail counterperson and backup tire guy.      After seeing a couple of main tire guys go through the back shop and not trusting anyone else to take over and maintain a good quality of work, I confronted Danny on taking over as the main tire and wheel guy. That's when it all got serious.

1957 Triumph front wheel      Being the main tire man, and with the lacing and truing expertise of Danny Fields and Danny Statdlander, they trained me in the correct process of assembling and maintaining wire spoked motorcycle wheels.

Averaging 500 tires a month during the busy season, and 10-20% of that being lace and true jobs, I had plenty of practice, and in fact rather enjoyed assembling wheels.

Roughly working over 2 years for M.T.C., I had done quite a few wheels for motorcycle racers and notable people, including: Classic Racing Bike

  • Scotty Morris
  • Jimmy Gaddis
  • Butch Laswell
  • Jack Baker
  • The Ball of Death riders in the Riveria show "Splash"

After quiting there, I've always been known as "The Wheel Guy", doing many jobs on my own and have had many requests.

2002 Suzuki RM250      Many people have told me I should start my own business pertaining to the motorcycle wheel industry, and putting it off for a long time, here I am today , moving foward with Factory True.

1973 Kawasaki H2      I may know quite a bit about the top brand manufacturer's wheels (IE. Honda, Kawasaki, Harley Davidson) but, I am also gaining more knowledge in the exotics (IE. KTM, Husqvarna, CZ). This would also include the famous factory claimed "untruable" BMWBMW logowheels.

That would be the story of this long journey to where we are today. So please , ask questions, and if I can't answer it, I will do everything in my power to get you to the right person that CAN answer it.

Thank You for your patience.
